The food table

White chocolate mousse with strawberries on top

We had a truly wonderful evening last night with great food and even greater company, including dear blogging friend and neighbour Circles in the Sand! Eventhough we managed to leave work earlier, I still ran out of time and found myself still in the kitchen by the time the guests were supposed to arrive. Luckily they were a bit late and I had time to finish off my chocolate mousse, which turned out really well. Very smooth and yummy and easy to make!
After the dinner we all sat outside, chatting, drinking until it was time to prepare for the traditional walk to the desert (which is right outside our security gate). From there we have the best view of all the fire works in town, Global Village, Burj Khalifa, Jumeirah, Burj al Arab, the Marina area...! We brought glassed and a few bottles of bubbly and greeted the new year with other Layan inhabitants. The kids had a blast, running around in the sand, chasing each other.

White chocolate mousse (4 portions)
200 g white chocolate
1 egg yolk
3 dl whipping cream

Chop the chocolate into small pieces and melt in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water until melted. Set aside to cool.  Separate the egg and beat the egg yolk slightly. Beat the cream but not too hard. Mix the egg yolk with the melted chocolate, stir. Fold the eggg yolk and chocolate mix into the whipped cream and mix it all thoroughly. Pour into a decorative glass and leave to set in the fridge for a few hours. Decorate with fresh/frozen berries.

I have no intentions of doing anything exhausting today, I may take a stroll down to the community pool but that's all. I wish you all a great start of the new year!
